Sun Moon
Surya: The Sun, with a lotus flower in each hand. Has
a halo around the head. He rides on a onewheeled chariot drawn by seven horses.
Chandra: The Moon, with a water lily in each hand. Has
a halo around the head. He rides on a twowheeled chariot drawn by ten horses.
Kailasanathar
The speciality of this temple is that the Nandi (celestial
Bull) has the face of a horse. As per legend, a devout king was blessed with a girl child. The child had the face of a
horse. On praying at this shrine she was blessed with a
human face and the Nandi took the face of the horse.
Mukaramba princess
Pandyan princess who was born with
the face of a horse got a beautiful face after a bath in the
Mukaramba Theertham.
